How to stand out in the online crowd Your presence on the internet is now far more than
just a re-worked brochure or catalogue. As the world increasingly
shops - and works - online, your website becomes your first point of contact with many
different audiences: not just prospects and customers, but
suppliers, the press, potential investors or employees - in short it's a
window for the whole world to evaluate your organisation and make judgements about you.
You'd better make sure then, that what they see is what you want them to see. That it is consistent with the 'voice' of the company, and reflects other communications activities. That it is up to date. That it is easy to read, and easy to navigate. That it doesn't take five minutes to load a page crammed with unnecessary (but undeniably very trendy - and expensive!) multimedia.
If you think we're stating the obvious, just spend a half-hour surfing the web at random, and see what you find. Spelling mistakes, links that don't work, companies who make it almost impossible for you to contact them, home pages that insist rather insultingly that you download and install 'Product X' before you can see them, even sites that tell you they don't approve of the browser you choose to use - the list goes on!
An organisation with a well-designed, well-written, informative web-site is surprisingly uncommon. If you'd like to join that elite, then contact us now. Search engines: how to move up the charts It is worth pointing out that effective copywriting for the web requires
additional specific skills: very few copywriters understand the workings of search engines,
but Search Engine Optimisation is a key requirement in these days of information overload.
Dave Tyler at Guru Communications can optimise your site's copy for the best search results -
don't take our word for it, try it for yourself. Type "Copywriter" and "Abergavenny" or "Monmouthshire"
into Google and you will see this site come at the top of the rankings. So, if you want your site to be number one in your field, you know what to do.
Note too, that here at Guru we practice what we preach: this entire site was developed from scratch by us. We feel it does its job very well, and if you've read this far, wouldn't you have to agree? |
